House Plan is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the app.
Information We Collect
Personal Information
- Account details (email, encrypted password, display name)
- Profile and household membership information
- House names, member lists, and settings
Usage Data
- Device type, operating system, and app version
- A random identifier created when you first open the app (not your device's advertising identifier)
- Features accessed and actions performed, such as which sign-up and setup steps you reach
- Error logs, crash reports, performance data
User-Generated Content
- Chores, expenses, budget data, and shopping lists
Local Storage
- Profile information, household data, and cached content stored on-device
How We Use Your Information
- Provide and maintain app functionality

Product Analytics and Experiments
To understand where people get stuck and make the app easier to use, the app records which screens and steps you reach (for example, opening the app for the first time, creating an account, each setup step, and starting or completing a purchase). We collect this ourselves and store it on our own servers. It is not shared with advertisers or sold, and we do not use advertising identifiers.
Before you sign in, this information is linked only to a random identifier created on your device. Once you sign in, it is linked to your account. It never includes what you type, your email, or your household's content.
We sometimes show different versions of a screen, such as a short introduction before sign-up, to randomly chosen groups of new users, to learn which version works better. The version shown to you stays the same on your device.
Analytics events are deleted after 13 months. Deleting your account deletes the analytics linked to it, and deleting the app resets the random identifier. We rely on our legitimate interest in improving the app for this processing; you can object, or ask us to delete this data, by contacting us at the email below.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
Within Households
Display names, chore assignments, expenses, and shopping contributions are shared with other members of your household.
Service Providers
Firebase (authentication), RevenueCat (payments), and cloud hosting providers handle data under contractual protections.
Legal Requirements
Information may be disclosed if required by law or in response to valid government requests.
Business Transfers
User data may transfer during mergers or acquisitions. You will be notified of any such change.
Data Security
The app uses encryption, HTTPS, JWT authentication, and regular security monitoring to protect your data. However, no system guarantees absolute security.
Data Retention
Information is retained only as long as necessary for app functionality, legal requirements, or dispute resolution. Deleting your account results in the removal or anonymization of your data. Product analytics events are deleted after 13 months.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may request access to, correction, deletion, or restriction of your personal data. Contact us at the email below to make a request.
Children's Privacy
House Plan is not intended for users under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, it will be promptly deleted.
International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries with different data protection laws than your own.
Push Notifications
You may receive household updates, reminders, and announcements via push notifications. These can be disabled at any time in your device settings.
California & European Rights
California (CCPA)
California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of their data. We do not sell personal data.
European Union (GDPR)
EU residents have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port their data. You may also object to processing or withdraw consent at any time.
